About IIT Madras
Tucked inside 620 acres carved from the Guindy National Park, IIT Madras is one of the few campuses in India where blackbuck roam past bicycle-riding undergrads [¹]. Founded in 1959 with West German assistance — the third IIT established in the country — it sits in the heart of Chennai, Tamil Nadu [¹]. Every January the campus transforms twice: first for Saarang, the five-day cultural fest founded in 1974 as "Mardi Gras" and now the largest student-run fest in India at 70,000-plus attendees [²]; then for Shaastra, the ISO-certified tech fest that launched in 2000 [¹]. Hostel life revolves around the 21 river-named dorms — Cauvery, Sabarmati, Mandakini and others — and Saturday nights at the 7,000-seat Open Air Theatre [¹]. Do you ship to IIT Madras campus and hostels?
Yes — we deliver to all IIT Madras hostels including Cauvery, Sabarmati, Mandakini, Ganga, Godavari and the rest of the river-named dorms. Standard delivery to Chennai takes 3–5 business days. Address your parcel clearly with hostel name and room number; the campus gate accepts regular courier parcels, so no special clearance is needed.
When is IIT Madras convocation — can I get merch in time?
IIT Madras convocation is typically held in July — the 62nd Convocation was on July 11, 2025. We recommend ordering at least 2 weeks before the ceremony to allow for production and standard 3–5 day Chennai delivery. For bulk graduation-group orders, reach out to us 3–4 weeks ahead for guaranteed on-time delivery.
Do you sell Saarang or Shaastra merch?
We're not the official vendor for Saarang (IIT Madras's cultural fest, running since 1974) or Shaastra (the tech fest since 2000), but we carry year-round IIT Madras-themed tees, hoodies and accessories. They make great souvenirs for fest season or any time you want to rep the campus.
Can I bulk-order for an IIT Madras hostel or club?
Absolutely. We handle bulk orders for hostel councils, department clubs, sports teams and fest committees. Minimum order is 15 units, with a production and delivery lead time of 10–14 days. Write to us at bulk@iitianvibes.com with your hostel/club name, quantity and design brief.
Can I add my IIT Madras department or hostel name to the design?
