Every IIT recruitment page, checked by hand this weekend. 236 live adverts covering more than 300 individual posts — and for the first time since this tracker launched, all 23 IITs have at least one opening. Nobody gets the zero line this week, though two institutes are one deadline away from it.
Everything here is filtered on the closing date, not the date the advert appeared. An advert posted in June that runs to 30 September is live and is in this list. An advert posted last Tuesday that shut on Friday is not. That distinction is the entire point of this page — most aggregators sort by posting date and leave dead listings at the top for weeks.
Move first on these — Monday 7 September is a bloodbath: a dozen adverts close tomorrow, including IIT Kharagpur's ₹1,00,000-a-month hardware-security postdoc, all four of IIT Madras's cybersecurity consultant posts, five IIT Roorkee adverts, IIT Palakkad's only listing, and IIT Goa's sports-coach walk-in (3 PM, Hostel Block). Then IIT Bombay's entire 21-advert staff drive closes in one day on 15 September.
What changed since last week
The 31 August deadline cliff did exactly what we said it would: it wiped out roughly a third of the list. IIT Kharagpur's project portal crashed from 50 adverts to 7 as the cliff hit. IIT Hyderabad, Roorkee, Delhi and Guwahati all shed their expired August batches. The headline number falling from 291 to 236 is deadlines maturing, not hiring slowing — IIT Bombay actually grew from 42 to 49, and 28 of its IRCC project adverts are dated September.
The bigger change is at the bottom of the table. IIT Tirupati, last week's only zero, posted a 13-post regular non-teaching drive on 31 August — Groups A, B and C, including a Superintending Engineer at Pay Level 13 (₹1,23,100–2,15,900), open to 30 September. Regular posts, not project contracts. That single advert is why the all-23 line at the top of this page exists.

The one worth your weekend: a Librarian post at the highest pay grade this tracker has listed
IIT Kharagpur's non-teaching channel published two adverts its own listing page prints without dates — the deadlines are inside the PDFs, both 17 September. The first is a single Librarian post at Pay Level 14 — ₹1,44,200–2,18,200 a month, the highest pay grade to appear in this tracker since it launched. That is a professor-equivalent grade for running the library of India's first IIT. The second is seven Software, System and Network Engineer posts at Levels 10–12 — regular institute posts, not project contracts, for people who write code.
And last week's lead is still open: IIT (BHU) Varanasi's Advertisement 03/2026-27 — roughly 55 Group B and C posts including 21 Junior Superintendents, the biggest single drive on this list — runs to 24 September on the SAMARTH portal, application fee nil for SC, ST, PwBD and all female candidates. One quirk worth knowing: after applying online you must also send a printout by Speed Post to the Registrar.
Where the volume actually is
IIT Bombay is now the largest employer on the list at 49 adverts, in two very different blocks. The 21 institute-staff adverts — junior mechanics, technical officers, a staff nurse, a sports officer, TGT teachers for its campus school — all close on the same day, 15 September. The other 28 are IRCC project positions with deadlines spread through the month, the freshest of them opened this weekend. The portal needs no login: dismiss the popup, press Start with no filters, and the full list renders.
IIT Hyderabad's headline number (39) needs an honest asterisk: only 7 of those adverts carry dated deadlines. The other 32 sit in a rolling backlog that stretches back to 2023, so treat any rolling Hyderabad listing as "email the PI and ask" rather than "live vacancy." The dated ones are real and good — two Duty Medical Officers and three Staff Nurses close 17 September, and a Senior Consultant for Corporate Relations at ₹1,00,000 a month closes 22 September.
The week's quiet surprise is IIT Jammu, up from 2 listings to 8 — including a JRF on a NISAR-ISRO project studying Himalayan rivers (closes 20 September) and an SRF instrumenting bridge piers with ultrasonic arrays. IIT Mandi's iHub is hiring for its robotics and AI lab on rolling deadlines — a simulation engineer for digital twins at up to ₹60,000, a robotics-data trainer at up to ₹75,000 — applications via Typeform, considered until filled.
The pay spread, in a single week
The spread this week is the widest we have printed. At the top, the IIT Kharagpur Librarian band starts at ₹1,44,200 and tops out above ₹2 lakh. Three consolidated-pay posts tie at ₹1,00,000 a month: Kharagpur's hardware-security postdoc (closes tomorrow), IIT Jodhpur's JCKIC Program Manager (10 September), and the IIT Hyderabad consultant above. At the bottom, IIT Mandi's iHub is offering a Finance intern ₹15,000 a month. Band floor to band floor, that is roughly a 10x spread, advertised in the same week, on the same system's letterhead.
Nobody is the zero this week — but watch Tuesday
For the first time since this page launched on 9 August, no institute has an empty board. IIT Tirupati, the zero for the last two rebuilds, broke it with the 13-post drive above. The asterisk: IIT Palakkad and IIT Goa each have exactly one live listing, and both end on 7 September — Palakkad's chemistry Research Associate closes and Goa's coach walk-in happens. Unless either posts something new, Tuesday's honest count becomes 21 of 23, and next Sunday's rebuild will say so.
How this list is built, and what it gets wrong
Every institute's own recruitment pages are read directly; aggregators are not used as a source. Ten sites needed a scripted browser rather than a plain fetch this week — Bombay's, Kharagpur's, Jodhpur's and Bhubaneswar's ERP tables render client-side, Gandhinagar and Bhilai sit behind protection layers, and Tirupati's advert lives on a separate ERP host because its own /careers page returns a 404. The listing-page traps this week, specifically:
- IIT Kharagpur — the non-teaching listing page prints no dates at all; the 17 September deadlines exist only inside the advert PDFs. Its faculty-recruitment page now returns a 404 (applications route via the ERP instead).
- IIT Kanpur — an extended deadline appears only as a struck-through date on the listing; the CSE Senior Project Executive Officer post actually runs to 12 September.
- IIT Hyderabad — 32 "open" rolling listings include adverts from 2023. We count them separately and say so.
- IIT Bhubaneswar — last week's "Database Error" page silently redirects to a working portal on a different subdomain (eims.iitbbs.ac.in). The listings were never gone, just moved.
- IIT Dharwad — its rolling project advert states outright that "there is no last date," feeding 70+ ongoing projects. Honest, but it means Dharwad's count can never be compared week to week.
