IIT Delhi has not published a highest package for 2025-26: under an Office of Career Services (OCS) policy, its placement releases leave out high-value packages. The latest IIT Delhi highest package on record is ₹3.6 crore for 2022-23, a Jane Street pre-placement offer for its Hong Kong office, media-reported by The Times of India on 3 December 2022; it is not an institute figure. What IIT Delhi does publish is the median: ₹20 lakh for B.Tech graduates of 2024-25 and ₹30 lakh for the 5-year dual degree, in its NIRF 2026 filing. For 2025-26 it has released counts only: 1,275 offers and 1,140+ students placed by December 2025.

As of 13 October 2026, OCS has issued no 2025-26 release after its 29 December 2025 update, and no newspaper has reported an IIT Delhi-specific top offer for the season. IIT Delhi highest package
There is no official IIT Delhi highest package for any recent season. IIT Delhi's December placement releases for 2021, 2023, 2024 and 2025 end with the same line: "IIT Delhi as a policy has decided not to mention high-value packages in their placement related press releases." The 2022 releases skip the line but give no highest package either. So any IIT Delhi highest package you see is a media report. The table lists the ones we could trace to a named newspaper, with what each one actually says.

The ₹3.6 crore is the most recent figure a newspaper tied to IIT Delhi by name. The Times of India reported that "Jane Street, a quantitative trading firm, has picked at least one student each from IIT-Bombay, Delhi and Kanpur for its Hong Kong office for a record package of Rs 3.6 crore," and added that these "were made as pre-placement offers (PPOs) before the season kicked off on December 1." IIT Delhi did not confirm it. The same week, the institute's own release said only that "Over 50 students have bagged domestic offers with CTC of more than Rs. 1 Cr per annum."
For 2025-26, the biggest number in circulation is not an IIT Delhi number. The Economic Times reported on 2 December 2025 that Da Vinci Trading offered "more than Rs 2.8 crore (€272,000)" for Amsterdam roles, including joining, relocation and retention bonuses, and hired from "IITs Delhi, Bombay and Kharagpur". It did not say which IIT received the largest offer, so we do not treat it as IIT Delhi's highest package.
Two traps to watch for. The "Microsoft offers ₹1.4 crore at IIT Delhi" story that still turns up in news search is from December 2017; it is the last time an IIT Delhi placement official confirmed a highest offer on record ("In terms of CTC, it is the highest offer this year"). And the ₹1.6 crore Zomato offer of November 2023 was withdrawn before the season began.
Why does IIT Delhi not publish the highest package?
IIT Delhi was early. Its disclaimer was already in the 2 December 2021 release. In November 2024 the IITs as a group followed: Careers360 reported that "the All IITs Placement Committee (AIPC) has decided not to disclose the highest package," quoting an IIT Patna official on the stress that crore-plus headlines put on students.
A student from IIT Delhi's placement team told Careers360 the idea had been discussed for two or three years: "This consensus has come due to the mental stress among students." He added: "We are against posting the highest packages and this year will only be posting median and average salaries." In practice IIT Delhi has published medians (through NIRF) and offer counts, but no average package in its releases.
What is the median package at IIT Delhi?
NIRF is where IIT Delhi publishes pay, and it publishes medians only. The NIRF 2026 filing covers students who graduated in 2024-25, the latest completed year. The B.Tech figure is written out as "2000000 (Twenty Lakh...)" in the Engineering filing.

What did IIT Delhi's 2025-26 placement season look like?
The OCS published its interim numbers on 29 December 2025. The season ran until the end of May 2026, so these are not final, but they are the only official 2025-26 figures. The release says "Over 300 PPOs were received this year - a surge of more than 33% from last year," which the Indian Express reported as "marking a 33% surge from last year".

IIT Delhi 2024-25: the full-year numbers
December counts undercount a season. The complete 2024-25 picture is in IIT Delhi's Annual Report 2024-25, which says "1359 students were placed while a total of 1481 job offers were received (240 Pre-Placement Offers were received by students and 86 students got multiple jobs)". The Indian Express covered the report on 24 July 2026.

Were any 2025-26 offers withdrawn?
Some were, across the IITs. Oracle, one of IIT Delhi's double-digit recruiters, is among 22 companies the IITs will stop cooperating with for the next two placement seasons after "more than 150 job offers made to 2026 graduates went unhonoured," per India Today (25 September 2026). Oracle "is reported to have not honoured around 40 offers made to students at IITs." The report does not break this down by institute, so how many of IIT Delhi's 1,275 offers were affected is not public. Read the December count as offers made, not jobs started.
What do the numbers mean if you are preparing?
The PPO figure is the useful one: 300+ of 1,275 offers is about 23.5% (computed), roughly 1 in 4 offers coming through internships before placement week. Converting a summer internship takes you out of the December rush. We covered the year-by-year plan in how to prepare for IIT placements.
Branch matters more than the headline median. In the Annual Report, 105 of 115 B.Tech CSE students who used OCS were placed in 2024-25, against 37 of 57 in Biochemical Engineering and Biotechnology.
What IIT Delhi students are saying
In June 2026 a student asked about biotech placements on r/IITDelhi. One reply:
"Finance and tech people prefer Circuital Branches. Wake up to reality, you'll need to work 2x to even have the chance at a decent placement if you wanna go in tech and finance. Also forget Quant at all, they don't do anything below CS/MNC/EC/EE." (u/Beneficial_Ad_4526, r/IITDelhi)
"Kisi bhi top iit ke non circuital branches ka placement check karle saare 15-20 lakh hote" (u/Low-Try-5615, r/IITDelhi)
The second comment, in Hinglish, says to check any top IIT's non-circuital branches: they all land at ₹15 to 20 lakh. That is an opinion, not data, but it is why the institute-wide ₹20 LPA median is a poor planning number for a biotech, civil or textile student.
When will IIT Delhi publish 2025-26 data?
IIT Delhi has no fixed public schedule. The 2024-25 counts appeared in the Annual Report, reported in July 2026, and the 2024-25 medians in NIRF 2026. If 2025-26 follows the same pattern, expect medians in NIRF 2027 and full-year counts in the Annual Report 2025-26. Neither will include a highest package unless the policy changes.
